"I bought these because of the price. They are half the price of Nike and I wasn't expecting much BUT to my surprise, Uvoider sleeves are of better quality and feel great. Not only do they protect you from the UV but they double as compression sleeves keeping your arms from getting tired. I am well pleased. I returned and purchased 3 more pair!".......by Tommy Jennings
"Your arm sleeves are awesome! Wish I'd discovered them sooner! I suffer from Melanoma skin cancer and really shouldn't be exposed to the sun over any part of my body. Your sleeves allow me to work in the sun without worry. Can't say enough about how much they improve my lifestyle. I classify products in 2 ways: swear by and swear at. The first time I put on a pair, I knew I had a product to swear by. Can't go wrong with the price either."........by Pierre DuCharme
"These sleeves are obviously high quality - much better material than some I have had. While the material is heavier than some, the sleeves still feel equally as cool as any I have had. Fit is really good and it appears that the elasticity off the fabric will last a long time. Very happy with the purchase.".......by Bruce King
These days, baseball players of all ages are wearing arm sleeves and it is not to look cool, though they do. No, arm sleeves provide very real benefits to baseball players of all positions and skills. If you play or coach baseball, you should know the many benefits that baseball arm sleeves provide as well as the rules. Here they are!
Baseball arm sleeves provide compression that increases the circulation and flow of blood. This provides relief to troublesome joints and tendons. Most baseball players have some amount of soreness in their throwing arm, so a compression arm sleeve is a welcomed addition to the gear.
Baseball arm sleeves act as an extra layer to the arm that will moderate and maintain temperature. On cold game days, baseball arm sleeves help keep the arm and the muscles relaxed. This prevents the muscles in the arm from becoming cold and stiff and tightening up. When muscles get cold and stiff and tighten up, performance becomes inconsistent and injuries such as pulls, stresses, and strains becomes more likely.
Baseball arm sleeves also help to prevent many of the cuts and scratches that players can get as well as to minimize skin damage due to exposure to the sun's harmful UV rays. Prolonged exposure to the sun can lead to not just sun burn but skin cancer which in turn can spread throughout the body to other organs.
Arm sleeves help sore muscles recover faster. In addition to wearing arm sleeves while playing, they can be worn after practice and after the game to keep your arm in the best possible shape.
Just as important as knowing the benefits of baseball arm sleeves is knowing the rules surround their wear. From the pony leagues, to high school, college and to the pros, there are rules that govern what is allowed when it comes to wearing baseball arm sleeves.
To start, the pitcher can't wear white or gray. These colors are deemed to interfere with the ability of the batter to pick out and see the ball from the arm sleeve of the pitcher.
Additionally, any color that is not consistent with the uniform of the team may not be worn as it is deemed to be a distraction to the opposing player.
In addition color rules, the visibility of the top of the arm sleeve is also governed by rule. If the top of the arm sleeve is visible, then it is not permitted. In this case, the arm sleeve is treated like a arm bandage and not permitted to be worn.
There is the one accommodation that seems to be a way around all of the rules and that is any arm sleeve can be used when it is worn underneath a long sleeved undershirt and not visible.
As always, when in doubt ask the rules officials or governing body for your league. Like so many other athletes in other sports, you will find that arm sleeves help you play better and recover faster.
